Are you a shoe addict? I know I am and when I find a pair of shoes that are comfy, cute, and versatile—I am sold!!! Alterre Shoes offers these things and more!
Alterre Shoes has launched a Kickstarter campaign that will run until June 15th to raise $15,000 to help fund new styles for next season. With 125 interchangeable shoe combinations, these comfortable shoes are definitely a girl’s best friend!
About This Project
Ever carry multiple pairs of shoes to work? Or struggle with packing only a couple of shoes that would match everything on your trip? We did. That’s why we created Alterre, an innovative line of modular shoes for the modern woman.
Being women ourselves, we know the best shoes are comfortable all day, versatile, and pack light. So we combined those traits with our patented technology (and a lot of insole padding) to create shoes you can interchange into over 125 combinations.
Alterre shoes were designed to be comfortable. The shoes were designed so that they are wider at the ball of the foot than the average women’s shoe, with heel heights tested for comfort. They have added foam padding under the sock liner to make them perfect for all day wear.
Wondering how they actually work? Literally change your look in a snap:
About The Brand
All of our shoes are designed in our New York Studio and made according to fair labor laws in Brazil. We donate 5% of the proceeds to the women’s abuse shelter Restore NYC, so you get to do good while you look good.
All Alterre shoes are made with genuine leather that we source locally in Brazil. Yes the leather is a bit more expensive than other parts of the world, but we think you deserve it. We also like sourcing it and other components directly in Brazil because it reduces our carbon footprint overall.
We believe that as fashion designers we inherently create waste, so we tried to make a shoe that lessens that impact. Because the looks are interchangeable, you only have one base lift and many shoes, meaning less plastic heels.
Meet The Designers
We could have separate bios, but we’re slowly becoming the same person. So here’s a long story short. We both met at Parsons School of Design, where we both studied fashion design. Harmony studied menswear, sustainability and later worked at Coach researching trends and studying their vast collection of leather. Shilpa studied women’s evening wear, printmaking (at a short stint at Central St. Martins), and shoes.
How Can You Help?
With the $15,000 we hope to raise, we want to create two brand new looks and a high platform heel for next season. You can go here to donate to Alterre Shoes kickstarter campaign. You can donate as little as $5 to as much as $2,750. Check out the Kickstarter campaign page for all the details!
