Exploring Different Skin Tightening Methods

Sagging or wrinkly skin might not be life threatening, but it can certainly have a bad impact on your self-esteem. That’s why you’ll be glad to know that there are plenty of different skin tightening methods available to you. Exploring all of them before you choose a treatment is essential. Otherwise you could waste time and money, put yourself at unnecessary risk, or simply not achieve the results you want as quickly as you otherwise might.

Treating Minor Skin Sags on Your Own

If your skin sags are minor, you might be able to treat or cover them by yourself. You can use medicated creams, lotions, or even makeup to do that. Check local drugstores for creams that include retinoids, minerals, and vitamins. If you think you need something stronger, you can ask your dermatologist to write you a prescription for a stronger lotion.

The trick to treating minor skin ailments with creams and lotions is to remember to use them each day for an extended period of time. It can be very easy to forget to do that. So, you need to create and stick to a daily skincare routine, if you choose that treatment route. Alternatively, you can look into the use of medical skincare devices to treat your skin at a local clinic instead.

Undergoing Laser or Thermage Skin Treatments

Among the medical skincare equipment out there are Thermage and laser treatments, which are not the same thing. Although, they do similar things in different ways. A Thermage treatment is basically another name for a form of radio frequency treatment. It uses particular sound waves to get down into the lower layers of skin and stimulate them.

A laser treatment acts similarly to a radio frequency treatment in that it can stimulate the deeper layers of skin, but it does so with light and heat instead of sound waves. Both treatments stimulate the cells in such a way that the patients body should start to make more naturally fortifying substances. Among those substances are collagen and elastin, which are the materials that help skin bind together and stay smooth and tight.

Other Things That Lasers Can Do for You

In addition to stimulating your cells from within, some laser treatments can also help your skin to look better in other ways. For instance, they can remove scars and treat discolored spots of skin. They can also resurface your skin by removing the top layer so that lower layers that are healthier can replace the dead surface cells. However, it’s important to understand that skin resurfacing and skin tightening treatments are not the same thing, even though they both can be done with laser machines.

Other Skin Tightening Procedures That Are Available

Lasers, radio frequencies, and lotions aren’t the only ways to treat loose skin besides facelifts. For example, you might choose to have an ultrasound therapy. Although it uses a type of sound waves like Thermage treatment, Ultherapy, as it’s commonly known, uses a frequency of sound that can get into deeper tissues.

You might also choose to have Botox injections or other โ€œfillerโ€ treatments to stretch or fill out your skin. It all depends on your needs, budget, and personal preferences. Just remember that, aside from a facelift, almost all treatments are definitely going to have to be repeated regularly if you want to keep your skin from sagging again in the future.
